Clipwell (“we”, “our”, or “the extension”) is a browser extension that helps you detect and organize media already loaded by your active browser tab. Clipwell is built to run entirely on your device with zero data collection, zero telemetry, and zero tracking.
1. Zero data collection
Clipwell does not collect, record, transmit, or sell any personal data.
- We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, physical addresses, or user identifiers.
- We do not collect or transmit your browsing history, page contents, bookmarks, or downloaded files.
- We do not run remote analytics, usage tracking, error telemetry, or third-party SDKs.
2. How permissions are used locally
All permissions requested by Clipwell are used only on your machine to provide the extension’s features:
- Storage (
chrome.storage): Saves preferences locally. Chrome Sync may copy them across your own profile. Later and Favourites stay inchrome.storage.local. The queue useschrome.storage.session. Nothing is sent to our servers. - Downloads (
chrome.downloads): Save, pause, resume, and cancel through Chrome’s download manager. - Network observation (
chrome.webRequest): Reads responseContent-Typeheaders to find media. No request bodies, forms, cookies, or credentials. - Tabs (
chrome.tabs): Title and URL of the active tab for card titles, filenames, and site rules. - Side Panel (
chrome.sidePanel): Renders the Clipwell UI in Chrome’s side panel. - Offscreen document (
chrome.offscreen): Assembles unencrypted HLS segments in the browser. - Host permissions (
<all_urls>): Detection and assembly on pages you open. Not on background sites you did not visit.
3. Third-party services and remote code
Clipwell does not load remote code. All logic is bundled in the extension package. Normal use does not call our servers. Clipwell Plus checkout is handled by Stripe on Stripe’s site. We do not store or see card details.
Clipwell does not unwrap DRM (Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady) or encrypted HLS (#EXT-X-KEY). Protected items are marked and cannot be saved.
4. Data sharing and disclosure
Because Clipwell collects zero data, we do not share, transfer, disclose, or sell user information.
5. Children’s privacy
Clipwell does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
6. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the revised version is published with a new date.
